"Love Me, Love Me Not" was created with love and acceptance at its core. The costume was designed specifically for one of Maria's sources of inspiration, and was made to be worn during the Pride parade. It symbolises a deep longing for acceptance within the LGBTQ+ community.
The costume features "flower petals" that can be removed with snap buttons, a symbolic act reflecting the challenges many in the community face in their search for acceptance and love. The fabric is made from chromatic plastic that reflects light in the colours of the rainbow, a reminder of the pride in being who you are.
The piece is not merely a garment: it is a message of inclusion, tolerance and the diversity of love. It was later shown at the Human Mannequins exhibition at Female Artists Oslo, months after its debut at the Pride parade.
